Mike is short for Microlion since we reckon he is about one-millionth the volume of an actual lion.
On Theo's recommendation, we also installed a mobile over Phoebe's crib so she can listen to Bach, Beethoven, or Mozart while watching the circling animals of the Serengeti.

I hear there was some ambiguity with the animals on the mobile. It took us quite a while to decide whether the sheep on our farmyard version was a sheep or a goat. It doesn't have a woolly coat, but it does have a scarf and a curly tuft on its head. I'm still not really sure; maybe it is a goat...
I heard that in Chinese, the word for lamb and goat is the same, so you often don't know exactly which is in your curry!
That giraffe really does look like a horse on the box. Plus it is bizarrely colored, like a mutant dinosaur.
I can confirm the Chinese lamb/goat convergence. A goat might be called a "mountain sheep," but sometimes it's just a sheep. Which makes me wonder (though I'm too lazy to research it) whether there exist goats that are not mountain goats.
