Feet

Phoebe likes to play with feet -- her own, or the caterpillar's.

Visiting with Auntie

Auntie Judy came to visit Phoebe for the first time. The girls had a lovely weekend of lunching, shopping, trying new recipes, and playing with toys.

Toyland

Phoebe is becoming more keenly interested in toys. Good thing we have approximately twelve hundred of them.

Her little arms and legs are constantly in motion. She may be preparing for a Winter Olympics medal in the luge.

The moose has become even more fun now that she can reach it with both her hands and feet!

Elmo also takes a lot of abuse, but has been a good sport.

The high chair

We finally received the proper parts to contain Phoebe within her high chair. You'd think they would come with it in the box, but they don't.

She seems to enjoy eating at the table with the grownups, even though she does not eat the same things as the grownups do.

Deepak

We went to celebrate Deepak Kumar's defense of his Ph.D. on Experimental investigations of magnetohydrodynamic plasma jets.

We did not go to the actual talk because we weren't too sure how well Phoebe would sit through it... although I'm told the talk was relatively lucid. In any case, Phoebe was very well-behaved at the post-defense Athenaeum lunch.

Brunch with Kyle

Julie and Eric and Luke and Sarah came over for brunch. Julie and Eric brought Kyle of course. Kyle brought his own mashed banana to eat.

I overcooked the bacon, and also gave myself a small but nasty burn on the hand with a splash of bacon fat. However, I thought the scrambled eggs and waffles came out well.

More brunch photos, and a new perspective, at Kyle's blog.

Higher altitude

We went back to the playground for a bit more energetic swinging. Still not too excited about it though.

We saw a biplane fly over.

Simple harmonic

This morning we tried Phoebe on a park swing for the first time. She showed neither fear nor excitement at the gentle, low-amplitude oscillations.

Perhaps we will swing more vigorously next time.
