Pooh at the Marina

Went to a birthday party at Mother's Beach in Marina del Rey. Batted a Winnie the Pooh pinata.

Star Eco Station

Went to a birthday party at Star Eco Station, an exotic wildlife rescue center with birds, reptiles, and some moderately big cats (e.g. a serval and a bobcat/lynx hybrid).




The tour guide explained how bird smugglers will stuff dozens of exotic birds into a mailing tube even though they know that most of the birds will die en route. I don't think the kids really grasped the lesson, but several of them were very interested in looking into the mailing tube.


I think this was supposed to be a dolphin painted on Phoebe's face, although to me it looks more like some kind of aquatic dragon?

Chinatown

A Saturday morning outing to Chinatown. One gets the sense that the neighborhood doesn't really wake up until later in the day, which makes it odd that the official walking tour is in the morning.
