We had a backyard picnic to celebrate Phoebe's three-quarters birthday (and the independence days of Liberia and the Maldives).
Patrick very kindly gave Phoebe some Fisher-Price Peek-a-Block Alphabet Blocks: really elaborate alphabet blocks with a three-dimensional Airplane, Banana, Car, etc., inside each transparent block. The things in the blocks move if you shake the block or turn a dial or something.
Calum put a cup on Phoebe's head.

Brainwave
Phoebe went back to the UCLA Baby Lab for an EEG experiment. It turned out she was the first ever baby to be wired up to their new brain scan equipment!
They measured her brain activity while showing her a variety of images. They did not seem to have a strong idea of what they were looking for, but they were excited by the prospect of finding any possible difference between male and female infants. I guess that's what interests people.
